Dubai Gallest Building

Burj Dubai is the world's tallest building, tallest free-standing structure, boasts the highest occupied floor, the highest outdoor observation deck and the world's longest-traveling elevator (1,640 feet in 2 minutes). (excerpt from CNN).

The building includes 5-star Armani Hotel which offers 160 guest rooms across 10 floors. The 430,000-square-foot hotel, designed and furnished by Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, features eight restaurants, a spa, swimming pool, library, fitness center and business center, as well as 30,000 square feet of conference and banquet space on "mirror-smooth marble floors," according to the Armani corporate Web site.

One such place is Dubai, which is the commercial capital of middle east (atleast by now). It is now ‘officially’ the home of the world’s tallest skyscraper. Sorry…make that the world’s tallest super-tall skyscraper (considering a lot of buildings have the title ’skyscraper’). So what does it take to qualify as super-tall? Well, there is no maths for this…it is kind of a ‘thumb-rule’…A building with atleast 300m (~1000ft.) in height can have the title. And 300m is tall, very very tall. So what about the tallest building in Dubai then? At an insanely 818m (holy mother earth!), it is by far the tallest structure ever made by man. Number of floors? A mind boggling 164 !!! In a comparative scale, Sears Tower (which use to have the most number of floors) has only 108. So that’s Sears Tower x 1.5 ! The building is named Burj Dubai.
At present, the Burj Dubai, or Dubai Tower, is 1,853 ft. high (564.9 m) with 152 completed floors. That makes the Burj Dubai the tallest freestanding structure in the world, until now a title held by the CN Tower in Toronto. To give American readers a sense of scale, the Sears Tower, the tallest building in the U.S., is 1,730 ft tall, including the antenna. While the finished height of the tower is officially being kept a secret in order to discourage competitors for the title of world’s tallest building, reports indicate that the tower will exceed 2,121 ft., making it the tallest structure ever built.
They have the only 7 star hotel in the world, Burj Al Arab. The tallest building in the world is under construction in Dubai, and now they want claims on the biggest friggin bridge in the world. The bridge will be 1.7 km and 205 meters in height. Building will start next month as they plan to construct 12 lanes that will allow 2,000 vehicles traveling back and forth in one hour. All this will cost a measly $817 million but why stop there?? They should include an airplane strip, build a bridge on top of the bridge,…maybe include the biggest launch pad for NASA as well. Ok I’m getting a bit carried away, but you go Dubai! Keep building these monstrous buildings.
