Radio City Christmas Spectacular that I have never forgotten. A shiny black car pulls up to Radio City Music Hall in a beautiful snowstorm. The door opens and a sweet little girl in red velvet, white gloves and black patent leather shoes exits the car, followed by her Daddy. They grab hands, smile at each other, and dash inside just in time for curtain. I can’t decide if I want to go back in time and be the little girl, or if I want to jump ahead to the day that my baby is old enough that I can peer out the window and watch her and her Daddy, all dressed up, hop in a cab and head downtown for that special night together. Probably the latter. And honestly, I think he’s pretty excited about it too.

Christmas in New York City is something a little bit special. “City sidewalks, busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style. In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas.” I’m a total sucker for it. I love when the lights go up. I love it when Starbucks brings out the Peppermint Mocha. I love the Macy’s Parade and the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center. And I love the decorations outside of Radio City Music Hall. I’ve never been to the show. This year…I’m taking my mom. So I guess in a way I get to live option one of my holiday fantasy this year. When I asked my mom if she wanted to go with me to see the Rockettes her face lit up like dare I say it, a Christmas tree. She remembered going with my grandparents in the 50’s. They ate at Sardi’s afterward. There really is something about New York.

Halloween just passed. Thanksgiving hasn’t even come yet, but the malls and department stores are decked with boughs of holly and other Christmas decorations and ‘Tis the Season is already playing on the public address systems.

Where else has Christmas arrived already? At Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Performances of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes began this past weekend. Whether you like to get in the mood early or you wait to see Christmas shows until just before the holiday, the time to buy tickets—for Radio City Music Hall or any Christmas event—is now.
